The sun has reached a milestone not seen for nearly 100 years: an entire month has passed without a single visible sunspot being noted.

Interesting link!

Very interesting. The article says the sunspot numbers are another indication the "sun's dynamo" is idling. If that's the case, I hope the sun is not dying and we might need a mission like in the movie Sunshine to "restart" the sun.

of all the heavenly bodies in the space, the sun always fascinated me. i used really love reading about it in school. and now i enjoy teaching about it to my children. a very interesting article.

Very informative article indeed. I Haven’t seen a picture of a sun looking perfectly like an orange. The Celestial bodies are full of mystery and an unusual development( so as to say) further adds to the mystique. Will we humans ever be able to resolve these mysteries? Years of studies haven’t really cleared all our doubts.

The pic is very cool looking. How about the other side of the sun? Sun-spotless? Usually it has more sun spots than the side facing earth by a huge number, but this is still interesting.
This also seems weird because the poles switched back in 2001 and the 11 year cycle would show this was expected to happen in 2012, and not 2008.
